Rent (Agriculture) Act 1976
Write the words of this act the way you think they should read. Solon shows your change as a redline against the published text and pins it to that exact text, so it can never be applied to wording you did not see.
Change 1
20 Avoidance of requirements for advance payment of rent.
(1) Any requirement that rent under a protected occupancy, or under a statutory tenancy, shall be payable— (a) before the beginning of the rental period in respect of which it is payable, or (b) earlier than 6 months before the end of the rental period in respect of which it is payable (if that period is more than 6 months), shall be void, and any requirement avoided by this section is referred to in this section as a “prohibited requirement”. (2) Rent for any rental period to which a prohibited requirement relates shall be irrecoverable from the tenant. (3) A person who purports to impose a prohibited requirement shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding level 3 on the standard scale and the court by which he is convicted may order the amount of rent paid in compliance with the prohibited requirement to be repaid to the person by whom it was paid. (4) In this section “rental period” means a period in respect of which a payment of rent falls to be made. (5) For the avoidance of doubt it is hereby declared that this section does not render any amount recoverable more than once.

One line that says what changes, such as "Halve the dog tax".
Who it helps, what it costs, what it fixes. It is what persuades people to support it.
A proposal here is not law. Support on Solon is evidence that people want the change; the official route says what it takes to make it law.

Ask what your change would do, who would gain and who would bear a cost, and where something like it is already law. The assistant reads your draft as it stands, cites the law and the studies it finds, and takes no side. What you file stays yours.
