Corporation Tax Act 2009

Write the words of this act the way you think they should read. Solon shows your change as a redline against the published text and pins it to that exact text, so it can never be applied to wording you did not see.

1284 Housing grants

(1) No liability to corporation tax arises in respect of a payment if it is made— (a) under an enactment relating to the giving of financial assistance for the provision, maintenance or improvement of housing accommodation or other residential accommodation, and (b) by way of grant or other contribution towards expenses. (2) It does not matter whether— (a) the payment is made to the person who incurs the expenses, or (b) the expenses have been, or are to be, incurred. (3) Subsection (1) does not apply so far as the payment is made towards an expense which is deductible in calculating income for any corporation or income tax purpose.

One line that says what changes, such as "Halve the dog tax".

Who it helps, what it costs, what it fixes. It is what persuades people to support it.

A proposal here is not law. Support on Solon is evidence that people want the change; the official route says what it takes to make it law.

Ask what your change would do, who would gain and who would bear a cost, and where something like it is already law. The assistant reads your draft as it stands, cites the law and the studies it finds, and takes no side. What you file stays yours.
