Corporation Tax Act 2009

Write the words of this act the way you think they should read. Solon shows your change as a redline against the published text and pins it to that exact text, so it can never be applied to wording you did not see.

134 Purchase or sale of woodlands

(1) This section applies for the purpose of calculating the profits of a trade of dealing in land. (2) If the company carrying on the trade buys woodlands in the United Kingdom in the course of the trade, the part of the cost of the woodlands which is attributable to trees or saleable underwood growing on the land is ignored. (3) If— (a) the woodlands are subsequently sold in the course of the trade, and (b) any of the trees or underwood are still growing on the land at the time of the sale, the part of the price that is equal to the amount ignored under subsection (2) for those trees or that underwood is ignored.

One line that says what changes, such as "Halve the dog tax".

Who it helps, what it costs, what it fixes. It is what persuades people to support it.

A proposal here is not law. Support on Solon is evidence that people want the change; the official route says what it takes to make it law.

Ask what your change would do, who would gain and who would bear a cost, and where something like it is already law. The assistant reads your draft as it stands, cites the law and the studies it finds, and takes no side. What you file stays yours.
