Corporation Tax Act 2009

Write the words of this act the way you think they should read. Solon shows your change as a redline against the published text and pins it to that exact text, so it can never be applied to wording you did not see.

200 Election given effect in accounting period in which receipt is received

(1) If a company makes an election under section 198, the additional tax is payable for the accounting period in which the receipt is received (and not for the accounting period in which the cessation occurred). (2) In subsection (1) “the additional tax” means an amount of tax equal to the difference between— (a) the amount of tax that is chargeable on the company for the accounting period in which the cessation occurred (“amount A”), and (b) the amount of tax that would have been chargeable on the company for that period if the election had not been made (“amount B”). (3) If— (a) the company has made, under section 198, one or more other elections for receipts to be treated as received in the period in which the cessation occurred, and (b) effect has been given to those elections, the effect of those elections is taken into account in determining amounts A and B.

One line that says what changes, such as "Halve the dog tax".

Who it helps, what it costs, what it fixes. It is what persuades people to support it.

A proposal here is not law. Support on Solon is evidence that people want the change; the official route says what it takes to make it law.

Ask what your change would do, who would gain and who would bear a cost, and where something like it is already law. The assistant reads your draft as it stands, cites the law and the studies it finds, and takes no side. What you file stays yours.
