Corporation Tax Act 2009

Write the words of this act the way you think they should read. Solon shows your change as a redline against the published text and pins it to that exact text, so it can never be applied to wording you did not see.

580 “Option”

(1) In this Part “option” includes a warrant. (2) References in this Part to an option do not include a contract whose terms— (a) provide— (i) that, after setting off their obligations to each other under the contract, a cash payment is to be made by one party to the other in respect of the excess, if any, or (ii) that each party is liable to make to the other party a cash payment in respect of all that party's obligations to the other under the contract, and (b) do not provide for the delivery of any property. (3) Subsection (2) does not prevent an option whose underlying subject matter is currency from being an option. (4) But see— (a) section 652 (introduction to sections 653 to 655), (b) section 665 (issuers of securities with embedded derivatives: equity instruments), and (c) section 695 (transfers of value to connected companies), in which “option” is to be construed as if subsections (2) and (3) were omitted.

One line that says what changes, such as "Halve the dog tax".

Who it helps, what it costs, what it fixes. It is what persuades people to support it.

A proposal here is not law. Support on Solon is evidence that people want the change; the official route says what it takes to make it law.

Ask what your change would do, who would gain and who would bear a cost, and where something like it is already law. The assistant reads your draft as it stands, cites the law and the studies it finds, and takes no side. What you file stays yours.
