Corporation Tax Act 2009

Write the words of this act the way you think they should read. Solon shows your change as a redline against the published text and pins it to that exact text, so it can never be applied to wording you did not see.

(1) This section applies if— (a) in a period of account a gain is recognised in determining the company's profit or loss (“the recognised gain”), (b) the gain wholly or partly reverses a loss recognised in a previous period of account (“the reversed loss”), and (c) a debit was brought into account for tax purposes under Chapter 3 (debits in respect of intangible fixed assets) in respect of that loss (“the tax debit”). (2) A corresponding credit must be brought into account for tax purposes. (3) The amount of the credit is— RG × D RL where— RG is the recognised gain, D is the tax debit, and RL is the reversed loss. (4) This section does not apply to a gain on a revaluation within the meaning of section 723 (see subsection (5) of that section).

One line that says what changes, such as "Halve the dog tax".

Who it helps, what it costs, what it fixes. It is what persuades people to support it.

A proposal here is not law. Support on Solon is evidence that people want the change; the official route says what it takes to make it law.

Ask what your change would do, who would gain and who would bear a cost, and where something like it is already law. The assistant reads your draft as it stands, cites the law and the studies it finds, and takes no side. What you file stays yours.
