Corporation Tax Act 2009

Write the words of this act the way you think they should read. Solon shows your change as a redline against the published text and pins it to that exact text, so it can never be applied to wording you did not see.

95 Acquisition of trade: receipts from transferor's trade

(1) This section applies if — (a) a person (“the transferor”) permanently ceased to carry on a trade at any time, (b) at that time the transferor transferred to another person (“the transferee”) the right to receive sums arising from the carrying on of the trade, and (c) the transferee subsequently carries on the transferor's trade. (2) Sums— (a) which the transferee receives as a result of the transfer, and (b) which are not brought into account in calculating the profits of the transferor's trade for corporation or income tax purposes of any period before the cessation, are brought into account in calculating the profits of the transferee's trade in the accounting period in which they are received. (3) Any sums mentioned in subsection (1)(b) which are received after the transferor has permanently ceased to carry on the trade are not post-cessation receipts (see Chapter 15).

One line that says what changes, such as "Halve the dog tax".

Who it helps, what it costs, what it fixes. It is what persuades people to support it.

A proposal here is not law. Support on Solon is evidence that people want the change; the official route says what it takes to make it law.

Ask what your change would do, who would gain and who would bear a cost, and where something like it is already law. The assistant reads your draft as it stands, cites the law and the studies it finds, and takes no side. What you file stays yours.
