Government of Wales Act 2006

Write the words of this act the way you think they should read. Solon shows your change as a redline against the published text and pins it to that exact text, so it can never be applied to wording you did not see.

34 Participation by Counsel General

(1) If not a Member of the Senedd the Counsel General may participate in Senedd proceedings to the extent permitted by the standing orders, but may not vote. (2) And the standing orders may in other respects provide that they are to apply to the Counsel General if not a Member of the Senedd as to a Member of the Senedd. (3) The Counsel General may, in any Senedd proceedings, decline to answer any question or produce any document concerning the operation of the system of criminal prosecution in any particular case if considering that answering the question or producing the document— (a) might prejudice criminal proceedings in the case, or (b) would otherwise be contrary to the public interest.

One line that says what changes, such as "Halve the dog tax".

Who it helps, what it costs, what it fixes. It is what persuades people to support it.

A proposal here is not law. Support on Solon is evidence that people want the change; the official route says what it takes to make it law.

Ask what your change would do, who would gain and who would bear a cost, and where something like it is already law. The assistant reads your draft as it stands, cites the law and the studies it finds, and takes no side. What you file stays yours.
