114 Register to be kept available for inspection

(1) A company's register of members must be kept available for inspection— (a) at its registered office, or (b) at a place specified in regulations under section 1136. (4) The relevant date for the purposes of subsection (3) is— (a) 1st July 1948 in the case of a company registered in Great Britain, and (b) 1st April 1961 in the case of a company registered in Northern Ireland. (5) If a company makes default for 14 days in complying with subsection (2), an offence is committed by— (a) the company, and (b) every officer of the company who is in default. (6) A person guilty of an offence under this section is liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding level 3 on the standard scale and, for continued contravention, a daily default fine not exceeding one-tenth of level 3 on the standard scale.

One line that says what changes, such as "Halve the dog tax".

Who it helps, what it costs, what it fixes. It is what persuades people to support it.

A proposal here is not law. Support on Solon is evidence that people want the change; the official route says what it takes to make it law.

Ask what your change would do, who would gain and who would bear a cost, and where something like it is already law. The assistant reads your draft as it stands, cites the law and the studies it finds, and takes no side. What you file stays yours.
