Finance (No. 2) Act 2023

Write the words of this act the way you think they should read. Solon shows your change as a redline against the published text and pins it to that exact text, so it can never be applied to wording you did not see.

146 Adjustment for changes in accounting policies and prior period errors

Where there has been a change to the net assets and liabilities of a member of a multinational group at the start of an accounting period, the underlying profits of that member for that period are to be adjusted to include the amount of that change if the change is attributable to— (a) a change in accounting policy that affects income or expenses included in determining the member’s adjusted profits, or (b) a correction of an error reflected in the determination, for the purposes of this Part, of the adjusted profits of the member for a previous accounting period, except to the extent the error results in a recalculation under section 217(5) (post filing adjustments of covered taxes).

One line that says what changes, such as "Halve the dog tax".

Who it helps, what it costs, what it fixes. It is what persuades people to support it.

A proposal here is not law. Support on Solon is evidence that people want the change; the official route says what it takes to make it law.

Ask what your change would do, who would gain and who would bear a cost, and where something like it is already law. The assistant reads your draft as it stands, cites the law and the studies it finds, and takes no side. What you file stays yours.
