Taxation (International and Other Provisions) Act 2010

Write the words of this act the way you think they should read. Solon shows your change as a redline against the published text and pins it to that exact text, so it can never be applied to wording you did not see.

151 “Arm's length provision”

(1) In this Part “the arm's length provision” has the meaning given by section 147(1). (2) For the purposes of this Part, the cases in which provision made or imposed as between any two persons is to be taken to differ from the provision that would have been made as between independent enterprises include the case in which provision is made or imposed as between two persons but no provision would have been made as between independent enterprises; and references in this Part to the arm's length provision are to be read accordingly. (3) For the purposes of determining the arm’s length provision in relation to the actual provision involving— (a) the transfer of intangible fixed assets for consideration other than money, or (b) the grant of a licence or any other right in respect of intangible fixed assets for consideration other than money, assume that the transfer or grant at arm’s length would be for consideration of a sum of money. (4) For the purposes of subsection (3) “intangible fixed assets” has the meaning it has in Part 8 of CTA 2009.

One line that says what changes, such as "Halve the dog tax".

Who it helps, what it costs, what it fixes. It is what persuades people to support it.

A proposal here is not law. Support on Solon is evidence that people want the change; the official route says what it takes to make it law.

Ask what your change would do, who would gain and who would bear a cost, and where something like it is already law. The assistant reads your draft as it stands, cites the law and the studies it finds, and takes no side. What you file stays yours.
