RSA 4 Powers of the Governor and Council in Certain Cases

Write the words of this act the way you think they should read. Solon shows your change as a redline against the published text and pins it to that exact text, so it can never be applied to wording you did not see.

4:17 Purchases of Surveyors' Maps, and Other Records.

The governor and council may expend a sum not to exceed $5,000 in any calendar year for the purpose of purchasing from the estates of deceased surveyors and civil engineers such field notes, maps, and other records prepared by them as will be of value in preserving real estate records of the state, and may direct the highway commissioner or other engineers to examine such records as are for sale for the purpose of ascertaining their value to the public. The governor is authorized to draw his warrant for the payment of the same out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated. Source. 1935, 30:1. RL 27:14.

One line that says what changes, such as "Halve the dog tax".

Who it helps, what it costs, what it fixes. It is what persuades people to support it.

A proposal here is not law. Support on Solon is evidence that people want the change; the official route says what it takes to make it law.

Ask what your change would do, who would gain and who would bear a cost, and where something like it is already law. The assistant reads your draft as it stands, cites the law and the studies it finds, and takes no side. What you file stays yours.
