Mental Health Units (Use of Force) Act 2018
Write the words of this act the way you think they should read. Solon shows your change as a redline against the published text and pins it to that exact text, so it can never be applied to wording you did not see.
Change 1
3 Policy on use of force
(1) The responsible person for each mental health unit must publish a policy regarding the use of force by staff who work in that unit. (2) Where a responsible person is appointed in relation to all of the mental health units operated by a relevant health organisation, the responsible person must publish a single policy under subsection (1) in relation to those units. (3) Before publishing a policy under subsection (1), the responsible person must consult any persons that the responsible person considers appropriate. (4) The responsible person must keep under review any policy published under this section. (5) The responsible person may from time to time revise any policy published under this section and, if this is done, must publish the policy as revised. (6) If the responsible person considers that any revisions would amount to a substantial change in the policy, the responsible person must consult any persons that the responsible person considers appropriate before publishing the revised policy. (7) A policy published under this section must set out what steps will be taken to reduce the use of force in the mental health unit by staff who work in that unit.

One line that says what changes, such as "Halve the dog tax".
Who it helps, what it costs, what it fixes. It is what persuades people to support it.
A proposal here is not law. Support on Solon is evidence that people want the change; the official route says what it takes to make it law.

Ask what your change would do, who would gain and who would bear a cost, and where something like it is already law. The assistant reads your draft as it stands, cites the law and the studies it finds, and takes no side. What you file stays yours.
