Propose a change

Transparency of Lobbying, Non-Party Campaigning and Trade Union Administration Act 2014

Write the words of this act the way you think they should read. Solon shows your change as a redline against the published text and pins it to that exact text, so it can never be applied to wording you did not see.

(1) The Registrar may give guidance about how the Registrar proposes to exercise the functions under this Part. (2) The Registrar may do so, in particular, by publishing guidance— (a) as to cases which the Registrar would, or would not, regard as falling within any of the exceptions in Part 1 of Schedule 1; (b) otherwise as to the circumstances in which the Registrar would, or would not, consider that a person is carrying on the business of consultant lobbying; (c) as to the circumstances in which the Registrar would— (i) include in the register a statement under section 6(6)(a), or (ii) remove a person's entry from the register; (d) as to the circumstances in which the Registrar would consider it appropriate to impose a civil penalty; (e) about how the amount of a civil penalty will be determined. (3) The Registrar may publish— (a) revisions to any guidance published under this section; (b) replacement guidance. (4) Publication under this section is to be— (a) on a website, and (b) in such other form or forms as the Registrar considers appropriate.

One line that says what changes, such as "Halve the dog tax".

Who it helps, what it costs, what it fixes. It is what persuades people to support it.

A proposal here is not law. Support on Solon is evidence that people want the change; the official route says what it takes to make it law.

Think it through

Ask what your change would do, who would gain and who would bear a cost, and where something like it is already law. The assistant reads your draft as it stands, cites the law and the studies it finds, and takes no side. What you file stays yours.
