Energy Act 2023

Write the words of this act the way you think they should read. Solon shows your change as a redline against the published text and pins it to that exact text, so it can never be applied to wording you did not see.

81 Further provision about designations

(1) A designation under section 59, 61, 63, 65, or 67 ceases to have effect if— (a) the Secretary of State revokes the designation by notice given to the person designated (in which case the designation ends on the date specified in the notice), or (b) the person withdraws consent to the designation by giving not less than 3 months’ notice in writing to the Secretary of State. (2) At any time after the first designation under section 59, 61, 63, 65 or 67 has effect, the Secretary of State must, except where the Secretary of State considers it unnecessary or not reasonably practicable to do so, exercise the power to designate so as to ensure that at least one designation has effect under that section. (3) The Secretary of State must publish a notice given to a person under— (a) section 59(1), 61(1), 63(1), 65(1) or 67(1), or (b) subsection (1)(a). (4) Revenue support regulations may make provision enabling a person who has ceased to be a carbon dioxide transport and storage counterparty, hydrogen transport counterparty, hydrogen storage counterparty, hydrogen production counterparty or carbon capture counterparty to continue to be treated as such a counterparty, including provision about the circumstances in which, and the period for which, such a person may be so treated.

One line that says what changes, such as "Halve the dog tax".

Who it helps, what it costs, what it fixes. It is what persuades people to support it.

A proposal here is not law. Support on Solon is evidence that people want the change; the official route says what it takes to make it law.

Ask what your change would do, who would gain and who would bear a cost, and where something like it is already law. The assistant reads your draft as it stands, cites the law and the studies it finds, and takes no side. What you file stays yours.
