Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024

Write the words of this act the way you think they should read. Solon shows your change as a redline against the published text and pins it to that exact text, so it can never be applied to wording you did not see.

172 Notification requirements: convictions and judgments

(1) This section applies where— (a) a person is convicted of an offence by or before a court in the United Kingdom, or (b) a judgment is given against a person by a court in civil proceedings in the United Kingdom. (2) The court may make arrangements to bring the conviction or judgment to the attention of the CMA if it appears to the court— (a) having regard to the functions of the CMA under this Chapter or Chapter 4, that it is expedient for the conviction or judgment to be brought to the attention of the CMA, and (b) without such arrangements the conviction or judgment may not be brought to the attention of the CMA. (3) For the purposes of subsection (2) it is immaterial whether the proceedings have been finally disposed of by the court. (4) Judgment includes an order or decree (and references to the giving of a judgment are to be construed accordingly).

One line that says what changes, such as "Halve the dog tax".

Who it helps, what it costs, what it fixes. It is what persuades people to support it.

A proposal here is not law. Support on Solon is evidence that people want the change; the official route says what it takes to make it law.

Ask what your change would do, who would gain and who would bear a cost, and where something like it is already law. The assistant reads your draft as it stands, cites the law and the studies it finds, and takes no side. What you file stays yours.
