Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024
Write the words of this act the way you think they should read. Solon shows your change as a redline against the published text and pins it to that exact text, so it can never be applied to wording you did not see.
Change 1
180 Power of CMA to investigate suspected infringements
(1) This section applies where the CMA has reasonable grounds for suspecting that— (a) a person has engaged, is engaging or is likely to engage in a commercial practice that constitutes a relevant infringement, or (b) a person is an accessory to such a practice. (2) The CMA may conduct an investigation into the matter. (3) Where the CMA conducts an investigation, it may publish a notice which (among other things) may— (a) state its decision to conduct the investigation, (b) summarise the matter under investigation (including the industry sectors affected), (c) identify, so far as possible, the persons under investigation (including whether they are suspected of falling within subsection (1)(a) or (b)), and (d) indicate the timetable for the conduct of the investigation. (4) If after giving a notice under subsection (3) the CMA decides to close an investigation, the CMA must publish a notice confirming that the investigation is to be closed.

One line that says what changes, such as "Halve the dog tax".
Who it helps, what it costs, what it fixes. It is what persuades people to support it.
A proposal here is not law. Support on Solon is evidence that people want the change; the official route says what it takes to make it law.

Ask what your change would do, who would gain and who would bear a cost, and where something like it is already law. The assistant reads your draft as it stands, cites the law and the studies it finds, and takes no side. What you file stays yours.
