Die Theaterkommission hat folgende Aufgaben: a) Sie fördert die Anliegen des Stadttheaters auf politischer und gesellschaftlicher Ebene; b) sie dient als Diskussions- und Informationsplattform über das Theaterschaffen im Allgemeinen; c) sie fördert und begleitet den Theaterbetrieb; d) sie gibt Impulse für das Theaterprogramm; e) sie wirkt bei der Entwicklung von Strategien für den Theaterbetrieb zuhanden des Stadtrates mit.
