Investigatory Powers Act 2016
Write the words of this act the way you think they should read. Solon shows your change as a redline against the published text and pins it to that exact text, so it can never be applied to wording you did not see.
Change 1
226H Duration of warrants
(1) A third party BPD warrant ceases to have effect at the end of the relevant period unless— (a) it is renewed before the end of that period (see section 226HA), or (b) it is cancelled or otherwise ceases to have effect before the end of that period (see sections 226GB and 226HB). (2) In this section “the relevant period”— (a) in the case of an urgent third party BPD warrant, means the period ending with the fifth working day after the day on which the warrant was issued, and (b) in any other case, means the period of 12 months beginning with— (i) the day on which the warrant was issued, or (ii) in the case of a warrant that has been renewed, the day after the day at the end of which the warrant would have ceased to have effect if it had not been renewed. (3) For the purposes of this section, a third party BPD warrant is an “urgent third party BPD warrant” if— (a) the warrant was issued without the approval of a Judicial Commissioner, and (b) the Secretary of State considered that there was an urgent need to issue it.

One line that says what changes, such as "Halve the dog tax".
Who it helps, what it costs, what it fixes. It is what persuades people to support it.
A proposal here is not law. Support on Solon is evidence that people want the change; the official route says what it takes to make it law.

Ask what your change would do, who would gain and who would bear a cost, and where something like it is already law. The assistant reads your draft as it stands, cites the law and the studies it finds, and takes no side. What you file stays yours.
