Der Ort der Wasserabgabe befindet sich sowohl bei Kraftwerken mit überstautem Gefälle (reinen Stauwerken), als auch bei Kraftwerken mit ganz oder teilweise umgangenem Gefälle (Anlagen mit Ableitungen) im öffentlichen Gewässer bei der Einmündung des Werkgerinnes.
