Charities Act 2011

Write the words of this act the way you think they should read. Solon shows your change as a redline against the published text and pins it to that exact text, so it can never be applied to wording you did not see.

What to do with it
As published

90 Entrusting charity property to official custodian, and termination of trust

(1) The court may by order— (a) vest in the official custodian any land held by or in trust for a charity, (b) authorise or require the persons in whom any such land is vested to transfer it to the official custodian, or (c) appoint any person to transfer any such land to the official custodian. (2) But subsection (1) does not apply to any interest in land by way of mortgage or other security. (3) Where property is vested in the official custodian in trust for a charity, the court may make an order discharging the official custodian from the trusteeship as respects all or any of that property. (4) Where— (a) the official custodian is discharged from the trusteeship of any property, or (b) the trusts on which the official custodian holds any property come to an end, the court may make such vesting orders and give such directions as may seem to the court to be necessary or expedient in consequence. (5) No person is liable for any loss occasioned by— (a) acting in conformity with an order under this section, or (b) giving effect to anything done in pursuance of such an order. (6) No person is excused from— (a) acting in conformity with an order under this section, or (b) giving effect to anything done in pursuance of such an order, because the order has been in any respect improperly obtained.

One line that says what changes, such as "Halve the dog tax".

Who it helps, what it costs, what it fixes. It is what persuades people to support it.

A proposal here is not law. Support on Solon is evidence that people want the change; the official route says what it takes to make it law.

Ask what your change would do, who would gain and who would bear a cost, and where something like it is already law. The assistant reads your draft as it stands, cites the law and the studies it finds, and takes no side. What you file stays yours.
