Building Safety Act 2022

Write the words of this act the way you think they should read. Solon shows your change as a redline against the published text and pins it to that exact text, so it can never be applied to wording you did not see.

18 Revised strategic plans

(1) This section supplements section 17. (2) The regulator may at any time in the period to which a plan relates— (a) prepare a revised plan relating to the remainder of that period (or to such other period as the Secretary of State and the regulator may agree), and (b) submit it to the Secretary of State for approval. (3) The Secretary of State may at any time during the period to which a plan relates require the regulator to submit a revised plan for approval. (4) Where such a requirement is made, the revised plan— (a) must be submitted as soon as reasonably practicable, and (b) must relate to the remainder of the period to which the current plan relates (or to such other period as the Secretary of State and the regulator may agree). (5) Section 17(3) to (6) apply in relation to a revised plan. (6) If approved, the revised plan replaces the current plan. (7) In this section— “current plan” means the first plan mentioned in subsection (2) or (3) (as the case may be); “plan” means a strategic plan as defined by section 17.

One line that says what changes, such as "Halve the dog tax".

Who it helps, what it costs, what it fixes. It is what persuades people to support it.

A proposal here is not law. Support on Solon is evidence that people want the change; the official route says what it takes to make it law.

Ask what your change would do, who would gain and who would bear a cost, and where something like it is already law. The assistant reads your draft as it stands, cites the law and the studies it finds, and takes no side. What you file stays yours.
