Football Governance Act 2025

Write the words of this act the way you think they should read. Solon shows your change as a redline against the published text and pins it to that exact text, so it can never be applied to wording you did not see.

32 Determinations under sections 28 and 29: time limits

(1) Where a person makes an application to the IFR under section 28 or 29, the IFR must make a determination under that section in respect of the person before the end of the determination period. (2) The determination period is— (a) the period specified in regulations made by the Secretary of State for the purposes of this paragraph, or (b) in a case where the period mentioned in paragraph (a) is extended (or further extended) under subsection (3), the period as so extended. (3) If the IFR considers that it cannot make a determination under section 28 or 29 before the end of the determination period, it may (before the end of that period) give the person who made the application a notice extending the determination period for the period specified in the notice. (4) The power under subsection (3) may be exercised more than once; but the determination period may not be extended so that it exceeds the period specified in regulations made by the Secretary of State for the purposes of this subsection. (5) If the IFR does not make a determination under section 28 or 29 in respect of a person before the end of the determination period, the IFR is to be treated on the expiry of that period as having determined under that section that the person is not suitable to be an owner or officer of the club (as the case may be). (6) Before making regulations under this section, the Secretary of State must consult such persons as the Secretary of State considers appropriate.

One line that says what changes, such as "Halve the dog tax".

Who it helps, what it costs, what it fixes. It is what persuades people to support it.

A proposal here is not law. Support on Solon is evidence that people want the change; the official route says what it takes to make it law.

Ask what your change would do, who would gain and who would bear a cost, and where something like it is already law. The assistant reads your draft as it stands, cites the law and the studies it finds, and takes no side. What you file stays yours.
