Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011
Write the words of this act the way you think they should read. Solon shows your change as a redline against the published text and pins it to that exact text, so it can never be applied to wording you did not see.
Change 1
125 Late night levy requirement
(1) In this Chapter, “a late night levy requirement” means a requirement to pay a late night levy in accordance with this Chapter. (2) A licensing authority may decide that a late night levy requirement is to apply in its area or in a part of its area in respect of— (a) relevant late night alcohol authorisations relating to premises in the area or the part, or (b) relevant late night alcohol authorisations and relevant late night refreshment authorisations relating to premises in the area or the part. (2A) Accordingly, references in this Chapter to a late night authorisation to which a late night levy requirement relates are references to any relevant late night alcohol authorisation or relevant late night refreshment authorisation in respect of which the late night levy requirement applies. (2B) A licensing authority may decide under subsection (2) that different late night levy requirements are to apply in different parts of its area. (3) In making a decision under subsection (2) a licensing authority must consider— (a) the costs of policing and other arrangements for the reduction or prevention of crime and disorder, in connection with the supply of alcohol or late night refreshment between midnight and 6 am, and (b) having regard to those costs, the desirability of raising revenue to be applied in accordance with section 131. (4) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . (5) This section is subject to section 132.

One line that says what changes, such as "Halve the dog tax".
Who it helps, what it costs, what it fixes. It is what persuades people to support it.
A proposal here is not law. Support on Solon is evidence that people want the change; the official route says what it takes to make it law.

Ask what your change would do, who would gain and who would bear a cost, and where something like it is already law. The assistant reads your draft as it stands, cites the law and the studies it finds, and takes no side. What you file stays yours.
