Renters’ Rights Act 2025

Write the words of this act the way you think they should read. Solon shows your change as a redline against the published text and pins it to that exact text, so it can never be applied to wording you did not see.

119 Duties where occupiers are on business premises entered without warrant

(1) If an officer of a local housing authority enters premises under section 118(1) and finds one or more occupiers on the premises, the officer must— (a) produce evidence of the officer’s identity and authority to that occupier or (if there is more than one) to at least one of them, and (b) if the entry takes place otherwise than in the course of a routine inspection, provide to that occupier or (if there is more than one) to at least one of them a document that— (i) sets out why the entry is necessary, and (ii) indicates the nature of the offences under section 131(1) and (2). (2) An officer need not comply with subsection (1) if it is not reasonably practicable to do so. (3) Proceedings resulting from the exercise of the power under section 118(1) are not invalid merely because of a failure to comply with subsection (1).

One line that says what changes, such as "Halve the dog tax".

Who it helps, what it costs, what it fixes. It is what persuades people to support it.

A proposal here is not law. Support on Solon is evidence that people want the change; the official route says what it takes to make it law.

Ask what your change would do, who would gain and who would bear a cost, and where something like it is already law. The assistant reads your draft as it stands, cites the law and the studies it finds, and takes no side. What you file stays yours.
