Housing and Regeneration Act 2008

Write the words of this act the way you think they should read. Solon shows your change as a redline against the published text and pins it to that exact text, so it can never be applied to wording you did not see.

72 Regulations

(1) The Secretary of State may make regulations providing that specified property, or a specified class of property, is or is not to be treated as social housing for the purposes of this Part. (2) The regulations may provide for property to be social housing despite not satisfying section 68(1)(a) or (b) where the Secretary of State thinks the property is of a kind, or is provided in circumstances, that serve the needs of a group whose needs are not adequately served by the commercial housing market. (3) The regulations— (a) may override section 68(2), (b) are subject to sections 68(3) and 77, and (c) are subject to sections 69 and 70 (but may clarify doubt about the application of those sections). (4) The regulations— (a) may make provision by reference to the opinion of the regulator or another specified person, and (b) may make provision by reference to designation, agreement or other action by the regulator or another specified person.

One line that says what changes, such as "Halve the dog tax".

Who it helps, what it costs, what it fixes. It is what persuades people to support it.

A proposal here is not law. Support on Solon is evidence that people want the change; the official route says what it takes to make it law.

Ask what your change would do, who would gain and who would bear a cost, and where something like it is already law. The assistant reads your draft as it stands, cites the law and the studies it finds, and takes no side. What you file stays yours.
