Corporation Tax Act 2010

Write the words of this act the way you think they should read. Solon shows your change as a redline against the published text and pins it to that exact text, so it can never be applied to wording you did not see.

18E Associated companies

(1) For the purposes of section 18D, a company is another company's associated company in an accounting period if it is an associated company (see subsection (4)) for any part of the accounting period. (2) The rule in subsection (1) applies to each of two or more associated companies even if they are associated companies for different parts of the accounting period. (4) For the purposes of this Part, a company is an associated company of another at any time when— (a) one of the two has control of the other, or (b) both are under the control of the same person or persons. (5) In subsection (4) “control” has the same meaning as in Part 10 (see sections 450 and 451). (6) In this section— (a) subsection (3) is subject to section 18F, and (b) subsections (4) and (5) are subject to sections 18G to 18J.

One line that says what changes, such as "Halve the dog tax".

Who it helps, what it costs, what it fixes. It is what persuades people to support it.

A proposal here is not law. Support on Solon is evidence that people want the change; the official route says what it takes to make it law.

Ask what your change would do, who would gain and who would bear a cost, and where something like it is already law. The assistant reads your draft as it stands, cites the law and the studies it finds, and takes no side. What you file stays yours.
