Environment Act 2021

Write the words of this act the way you think they should read. Solon shows your change as a redline against the published text and pins it to that exact text, so it can never be applied to wording you did not see.

12 Reviewing and revising plans: other requirements

(1) In reviewing an environmental improvement plan under section 10, the Secretary of State must consider— (a) what has been done to implement the plan in the period since it was published or (if it has been reviewed before) last reviewed, (b) whether, having regard to data obtained under section 16 and reports made by the OEP under section 28, the natural environment has, or particular aspects of it have, improved during that period, and (c) whether Her Majesty’s Government should take further or different steps to improve the natural environment (compared to those set out in the plan) in the remainder of the period to which the plan relates. (2) In considering the matters in subsection (1)(b) the Secretary of State must consider the progress that has been made towards meeting— (a) any targets, or any relevant targets, set under sections 1 to 3, and (b) any interim targets, or any relevant interim targets, set under sections 11 and 14. One line that says what changes, such as "Halve the dog tax".

Who it helps, what it costs, what it fixes. It is what persuades people to support it.

A proposal here is not law. Support on Solon is evidence that people want the change; the official route says what it takes to make it law.

Ask what your change would do, who would gain and who would bear a cost, and where something like it is already law. The assistant reads your draft as it stands, cites the law and the studies it finds, and takes no side. What you file stays yours.
