RSA 30-B County Departments of Corrections

Write the words of this act the way you think they should read. Solon shows your change as a redline against the published text and pins it to that exact text, so it can never be applied to wording you did not see.

30-B:20 Work Release.

A sentencing court may order that any person sentenced to imprisonment in a county department of corrections facility may be released therefrom by the superintendent with the approval of the sentencing court at the time of sentence, or at any time during the term of sentence based on the rules and regulations of the county correctional facility for such purposes as the superintendent may deem conducive to his or her rehabilitation. Such release shall be for such terms or intervals of time and under such terms and conditions as may be permitted by the facility's rules and regulations or as the court may order. Any part of a day spent in the free community under such a release order shall be counted as a full day toward the serving of the sentence unless otherwise provided by the sentencing court. One line that says what changes, such as "Halve the dog tax".

Who it helps, what it costs, what it fixes. It is what persuades people to support it.

A proposal here is not law. Support on Solon is evidence that people want the change; the official route says what it takes to make it law.

Ask what your change would do, who would gain and who would bear a cost, and where something like it is already law. The assistant reads your draft as it stands, cites the law and the studies it finds, and takes no side. What you file stays yours.
