Parliament (Joint Departments) Act 2007

Write the words of this act the way you think they should read. Solon shows your change as a redline against the published text and pins it to that exact text, so it can never be applied to wording you did not see.

(1) The staff of a joint department are appointed by the Corporate Officers and must be employed under a contract of employment with them. (2) The Corporate Officers must ensure— (a) that the pay of staff is kept broadly in line with pay in the statutory home civil service ; (b) that, so far as is consistent with the requirements of both Houses of Parliament, the other conditions of service of staff are kept broadly in line with those in the statutory home civil service ; (c) that the pensions and similar benefits of existing and former staff are kept in line with the provisions, or provided under, of the principal Civil Service Pension Scheme, as it applies for the time being to the statutory home civil service . (3) Subsection (2)(c) does not apply to existing or former staff if provision for pensions and similar benefits— (a) was made for them under another scheme before they joined the joint department, and (b) continues to be made under that scheme in respect of their service in that department. (4) The statutory home civil service” means the civil service (excluding Her Majesty's diplomatic service) within the meaning of Chapter 1 of Part 1 of the Constitutional Reform and Governance Act 2010 (see section 1(4) of that Act).

One line that says what changes, such as "Halve the dog tax".

Who it helps, what it costs, what it fixes. It is what persuades people to support it.

A proposal here is not law. Support on Solon is evidence that people want the change; the official route says what it takes to make it law.

Ask what your change would do, who would gain and who would bear a cost, and where something like it is already law. The assistant reads your draft as it stands, cites the law and the studies it finds, and takes no side. What you file stays yours.
