Criminal Procedure (Scotland) Act 1995

Write the words of this act the way you think they should read. Solon shows your change as a redline against the published text and pins it to that exact text, so it can never be applied to wording you did not see.

227ZG Restricted movement requirements: further provision

(1) A court may not impose a restricted movement requirement requiring the offender to be, or not to be, in a specified place unless it is satisfied that the offender's compliance with the requirement can be monitored by the method specified in the requirement. (2) Before imposing a restricted movement requirement requiring the offender to be in a specified place, the appropriate court must obtain and consider a written report by an officer of the local authority in whose area the place is situated on— (a) the place, and (aa) the suitability of the place (particularly with a view to maximising the prospect of the offender's compliance with the requirement and minimising the risk of reoffending by the offender), (b) the attitude of any person (other than the offender) likely to be affected by the enforced presence of the offender at the place. (3) The court may, before imposing the requirement, hear the officer who prepared the report.

One line that says what changes, such as "Halve the dog tax".

Who it helps, what it costs, what it fixes. It is what persuades people to support it.

A proposal here is not law. Support on Solon is evidence that people want the change; the official route says what it takes to make it law.

Ask what your change would do, who would gain and who would bear a cost, and where something like it is already law. The assistant reads your draft as it stands, cites the law and the studies it finds, and takes no side. What you file stays yours.
