Levelling-up and Regeneration Act 2023

Write the words of this act the way you think they should read. Solon shows your change as a redline against the published text and pins it to that exact text, so it can never be applied to wording you did not see.

207 Power to grant tenancy in default

(1) This section applies if— (a) a local authority has entered into a contract under section 204, and (b) the landlord of the premises to which the contract relates fails to grant a tenancy as required by the contract. (2) The local authority may grant the tenancy that the landlord should have granted. (3) A tenancy granted under this section has effect as if it was granted by the landlord instead of the local authority; and the local authority may do anything that the landlord could do in order to make an effective grant. (4) A local authority is to act under this section in its own name, but with an indication that it is acting so as to bind the landlord rather than itself. (5) As soon as possible after granting a tenancy under this section, the local authority must provide a signed copy of the instrument by which the tenancy was granted to the landlord.

One line that says what changes, such as "Halve the dog tax".

Who it helps, what it costs, what it fixes. It is what persuades people to support it.

A proposal here is not law. Support on Solon is evidence that people want the change; the official route says what it takes to make it law.

Ask what your change would do, who would gain and who would bear a cost, and where something like it is already law. The assistant reads your draft as it stands, cites the law and the studies it finds, and takes no side. What you file stays yours.
