Levelling-up and Regeneration Act 2023
Write the words of this act the way you think they should read. Solon shows your change as a redline against the published text and pins it to that exact text, so it can never be applied to wording you did not see.

31 Procedure for direct conferral of general functions on mayor
(1) This section applies in relation to regulations which are made under sections 19(1) and 30(1) in relation to an existing mayoral CCA and provide for a function— (a) to be a function of the CCA, and (b) to be a function exercisable only by the mayor. (2) The Secretary of State may make the regulations only if a request for the making of the regulations has been made to the Secretary of State by the mayor. (3) Before submitting a request under this section, the mayor must consult the constituent councils. (4) A request under this section must contain— (a) a statement by the mayor that all of the constituent councils agree to the making of the regulations, or (b) if the mayor is unable to make that statement, the reasons why the mayor considers the regulations should be made even though not all of the constituent councils agree to them being made.

One line that says what changes, such as "Halve the dog tax".
Who it helps, what it costs, what it fixes. It is what persuades people to support it.
A proposal here is not law. Support on Solon is evidence that people want the change; the official route says what it takes to make it law.

Ask what your change would do, who would gain and who would bear a cost, and where something like it is already law. The assistant reads your draft as it stands, cites the law and the studies it finds, and takes no side. What you file stays yours.
