Commission Regulation (EEC) No 3440/84 of 6 December 1984 on the attachment of devices to trawls, Danish seines and similar nets

Write the words of this act the way you think they should read. Solon shows your change as a redline against the published text and pins it to that exact text, so it can never be applied to wording you did not see.

Article 8 Codline

1. A codline is a rope making it possible to close the rear of the codend and/or strengthening bags by means of either a knot which can be easily loosened or a mechanical device. 2. The codline shall be attached at a distance which is not more than 1 metre from the rear meshes of the codend, which may be folded back into the codend. However, if a ‘torquette’ complying with Article 14 is attached, the codline shall be passed through the rearmost meshes of the codend. 3. More than one codline may be used per trawl. A codline may not enclose a bottom-side chafer or top-side chafer. 4. By way of derogation of the provisions laid down in paragraph 2, it shall be permitted for vessels operating pump aboard systems to attach a codline at a distance which is no more than 10 m from the rear meshes of the codend, when fishing with trawls with a mesh size of less than 70 mm.

One line that says what changes, such as "Halve the dog tax".

Who it helps, what it costs, what it fixes. It is what persuades people to support it.

A proposal here is not law. Support on Solon is evidence that people want the change; the official route says what it takes to make it law.

Think it through

Ask what your change would do, who would gain and who would bear a cost, and where something like it is already law. The assistant reads your draft as it stands, cites the law and the studies it finds, and takes no side. What you file stays yours.
