Income Tax Act 2007

Write the words of this act the way you think they should read. Solon shows your change as a redline against the published text and pins it to that exact text, so it can never be applied to wording you did not see.

809RZC Breaches of the TRF deposit rule

(1) There is a breach of the TRF deposit rule if one or more prohibited sums are paid into a TRF capital account on the qualifying date or any day after the qualifying date. (2) A breach of the TRF deposit rule is remedied if, within 30 days beginning with the day on which the prohibited sums are paid into the account, the required amount is transferred out of the account by way of a single one-off qualifying transfer. (3) A transfer is “qualifying” if it does not result in the remittance of any amount to the United Kingdom. (4) “The required amount” is an amount equal to the total of the prohibited sums paid into the TRF capital account on the day of the breach. (5) If there are 2 days in a tax year on which one or more breaches of the TRF deposit rule occur, subsection (2) does not apply to any breach on any subsequent day in the tax year (and accordingly any breach occurring on any day after the second day in the tax year on which there has been a breach cannot be remedied). (6) A “prohibited sum” is anything other than a sum that is TRF capital.

One line that says what changes, such as "Halve the dog tax".

Who it helps, what it costs, what it fixes. It is what persuades people to support it.

A proposal here is not law. Support on Solon is evidence that people want the change; the official route says what it takes to make it law.

Ask what your change would do, who would gain and who would bear a cost, and where something like it is already law. The assistant reads your draft as it stands, cites the law and the studies it finds, and takes no side. What you file stays yours.
