HGV Road User Levy Act 2013

Write the words of this act the way you think they should read. Solon shows your change as a redline against the published text and pins it to that exact text, so it can never be applied to wording you did not see.

(1) In this Act— “"the 1994 Act”” means the Vehicle Excise and Registration Act 1994; ““heavy goods vehicle””, ““UK heavy goods vehicle”” and ““non-UK heavy goods vehicle”” each has the meaning given in section 2; “"prescribed”” means prescribed by regulations; “"revenue weight”” has the same meaning as in the 1994 Act (see section 60A of that Act) , subject to paragraph 5(2) of Schedule 1. (2) Regulations under paragraph 13 of Schedule 1 to the 1994 Act (under which goods vehicles are in some cases treated as having a lower revenue weight for the purposes of Part 8 of that Schedule) have effect also for the purposes of this Act. (3) For the purposes of this Act— (a) HGV road user levy is paid in respect of a particular day if the levy charged in respect of the vehicle in question is paid either for that day or for a period which includes that day; (b) where a person receives a rebate of levy in respect of a vehicle as a result of an entitlement arising under section 7(2), the person is treated as not having paid levy in respect of the vehicle for the period starting with the day after the date of the application for the rebate and ending with the end of the levy period. (c) where a person receives a rebate of levy in respect of a vehicle as a result of an entitlement arising under section 7(2A), the person is treated as not having paid levy in respect of the vehicle for the period starting with the first day of the month after the month in which the application for a rebate was made and ending with the end of the levy period. One line that says what changes, such as "Halve the dog tax".

Who it helps, what it costs, what it fixes. It is what persuades people to support it.

A proposal here is not law. Support on Solon is evidence that people want the change; the official route says what it takes to make it law.

Ask what your change would do, who would gain and who would bear a cost, and where something like it is already law. The assistant reads your draft as it stands, cites the law and the studies it finds, and takes no side. What you file stays yours.
