Building Societies Act 1986 (Amendment) Act 2024
Write the words of this act the way you think they should read. Solon shows your change as a redline against the published text and pins it to that exact text, so it can never be applied to wording you did not see.
Change 1
4 Extent, commencement, transitional provision and short title
(1) This Act extends to England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. (2) This Act comes into force at the end of the period of two months beginning with the day on which it is passed. (3) The amendments made by this Act to section 104 of the Building Societies Act 1986 apply in relation to any modification of the statutory provisions in force in Great Britain or Northern Ireland relating to companies whether the modification is made before or after the coming into force of this Act (and for this purpose “modification” and “statutory provision” have the same meanings as in that section). (4) This Act may be cited as the Building Societies Act 1986 (Amendment) Act 2024.

One line that says what changes, such as "Halve the dog tax".
Who it helps, what it costs, what it fixes. It is what persuades people to support it.
A proposal here is not law. Support on Solon is evidence that people want the change; the official route says what it takes to make it law.

Ask what your change would do, who would gain and who would bear a cost, and where something like it is already law. The assistant reads your draft as it stands, cites the law and the studies it finds, and takes no side. What you file stays yours.
