Sustainable Communities Act 2007
Write the words of this act the way you think they should read. Solon shows your change as a redline against the published text and pins it to that exact text, so it can never be applied to wording you did not see.
Change 1
3 Decision on short-list
(1) Before inviting proposals under section 2, the Secretary of State must appoint a person (the “selector”) to consider the proposals and, in co-operation with the Secretary of State, draw up a short-list of proposals in accordance with regulations under section 5. (2) The selector must be a person who represents the interests of local authorities. (3) On receiving the short-list from the selector, the Secretary of State must decide, in relation to each proposal on the short-list— (a) whether the proposal should be implemented or not, and (b) if the Secretary of State thinks that it should be implemented, whether to implement it in whole or in part. (4) Before making a decision under subsection (3) the Secretary of State must consult the selector and try to reach agreement.

One line that says what changes, such as "Halve the dog tax".
Who it helps, what it costs, what it fixes. It is what persuades people to support it.
A proposal here is not law. Support on Solon is evidence that people want the change; the official route says what it takes to make it law.

Ask what your change would do, who would gain and who would bear a cost, and where something like it is already law. The assistant reads your draft as it stands, cites the law and the studies it finds, and takes no side. What you file stays yours.
