Criminal Injuries Compensation Act 1995
Write the words of this act the way you think they should read. Solon shows your change as a redline against the published text and pins it to that exact text, so it can never be applied to wording you did not see.
Change 1
12 Repeal of the 1988 Act scheme and transitional provisions.
(1) Sections 108 to 117 of, and Schedules 6 and 7 to, the Criminal Justice Act 1988 (the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme) shall cease to have effect. (2) The arrangements for compensation for criminal injuries in operation immediately before the passing of this Act (“the current arrangements”) shall continue in force until the date on which the Scheme comes into force (“the commencement date”). (3) At any time before the commencement date, the Secretary of State may make such alterations to the current arrangements as he considers appropriate. (4) The current arrangements shall cease to have effect on the commencement date. (5) The Scheme may include such transitional provision (“the transitional arrangements”) as the Secretary of State considers appropriate in consequence of the replacement of the current arrangements by the Scheme. (6) The transitional arrangements may, in particular, provide for the basis on which compensation is to be calculated in cases to which the transitional arrangements apply to differ from that on which compensation is to be calculated in other cases. (7) The repeals set out in the Schedule shall have effect.

One line that says what changes, such as "Halve the dog tax".
Who it helps, what it costs, what it fixes. It is what persuades people to support it.
A proposal here is not law. Support on Solon is evidence that people want the change; the official route says what it takes to make it law.

Ask what your change would do, who would gain and who would bear a cost, and where something like it is already law. The assistant reads your draft as it stands, cites the law and the studies it finds, and takes no side. What you file stays yours.
