Overseas Operations (Service Personnel and Veterans) Act 2021

Write the words of this act the way you think they should read. Solon shows your change as a redline against the published text and pins it to that exact text, so it can never be applied to wording you did not see.

4 Section 3: supplementary

(1) For the purposes of section 3(2)(b) and this section “relevant previous investigation” means an investigation into the alleged conduct which— (a) was carried out by an investigating authority, (b) has ceased to be active, and (c) either did not lead to any decision as to whether or not the person should be charged with an offence, or led to a decision that the person should not be charged with any offence. (2) For the purposes of section 3(2)(b), where there has been at least one relevant previous investigation in relation to the alleged conduct, evidence— (a) is not “new” if it has been taken into account in the relevant previous investigation (or in any of them); (b) otherwise, is “new”.

One line that says what changes, such as "Halve the dog tax".

Who it helps, what it costs, what it fixes. It is what persuades people to support it.

A proposal here is not law. Support on Solon is evidence that people want the change; the official route says what it takes to make it law.

Ask what your change would do, who would gain and who would bear a cost, and where something like it is already law. The assistant reads your draft as it stands, cites the law and the studies it finds, and takes no side. What you file stays yours.
